Research Surgeon

Immediate opening for a versatile small animal research surgeon to head up our surgical research program and develop new surgical models in our laboratory. The successful applicant will be expected to master our established methods for ultra-fast rabbit renal transplantation, corneal transplantation and establish new models for rabbit small bowel transplantation, ectopic rabbit heart transplantation, and possibly transplantation of tissues such as cartilage. Our laboratory is developing methods for the long-term preservation of organs and tissues by both conventional means and by cryopreservation. The successful applicant should be familiar with histopathology and be able to independently evaluate and report on the histological quality of preserved organs and tissues. The applicant should be able to supervise and train dedicated surgical assistants and to supervise and help train independent surgical teams performing simple non-transplant-related cardiovascular and cervical surgical procedures. We are a small but thriving biomedical research company located in the attractive Inland Empire area of Southern California within easy reach of beaches, mountain resorts, cultural centers, major theme parks, UC system universities, and a local international airport (ONT).
